Been a minute…

May 13, 2022

Yes, it’s been a few months since my last post.

Seems I’m terrible at coming up with new content and certainly didn’t want to post the same thing over and over again. This however does not mean I haven’t been riding. Still looking for a more touring style bike in order to expand our distances and add new places to visit further from home.

Pretty sure I’ve explored all the back roads within a one hundred mile radius but don’t quote me on that because sometimes while riding you find a new path unknown at the time. Most of my riding lately has been without a camera rolling, just out riding the back roads looking for new places and enjoying the wind.

Below I’ll post some videos of rides I’ve taken while a video was rolling just so you know I’m still active and riding whenever the opportunity rises up and pulls me into it. 🙂

Vacation Time

June 10, 2021

Yes, I know it seems like I’m always on vacation since there is no longer a “job” in my life but just getting away from home, visiting with other people and enjoying different parts of the country to me is a vacation. So on May 26, 2021 decided to go with my brother and sister in law to their home away from home in north Alabama to celebrate my brothers birthday. Rode up in my brothers RV which was also a new experience. Explained all that to let you know why there has been no posts as of late. 🙂

They have a very nice place on Smith Lake about an hour or so from Huntsville, Alabama. Got to spend time with not only my brother and sister in law, but my Aunt Mary, my cousin and his wife from Tennessee, my sister and her husband who live near Huntsville, my nephew Kevin, his wife Karen, and their three adorable kiddos, plus my sister in laws brother and his significant other. In other words we had a house full, playing games, fishing, telling stories and basically making memories with laughter and good times. THAT’s a vacation to me. 🙂

Only thing missing from this trip was my motorcycle. Uh huh, yes I know, felt it was better to leave it home this time and ride/explore in the near future. Will tell ya though, there are some awesome roads to enjoy on a motorcycle in that area. Winding roads, uphill, down hill, sharp curves and roads with trees overlapping on the top of them creating a fantastic canopy. Will likely go back soon and experience those roads as they should be enjoyed on a motorcycle.

After a few days, people began returning to their homes, jobs, etc. so I had planned to go up to my long time friends house in southern Tennessee which was only about two hours away. The trip to his house was full of those beautiful winding roads which made me wish even more that I was on the motorcycle. Was a pleasure to visit with Bud, we had been friends since high school which by the way was a long time ago. Losing contact several times in our life after high school we always seem to find each other again somehow. Always find time to remember our moments in the past, most good but some questionable. No matter they all bring a chuckle, smile and sometimes outright busting laughter.

The only sad heart wrenching part of this visit was missing Bud’s wife of forty plus years, Mary. She had passed a few weeks earlier. Mary is/was a very sweet adorable person and will be missed by me and all that knew her. My heart aches for my friend Bud and I have no words to console him.

After spending a couple of days with my friend, headed back down to my brothers place on Smith Lake. Spent the night there and caught a ride the next day (June 4, 2021) with my sister in law’s brother John, to return home. The entire trip was good fun, great food, fantastic conversation and special memories that I will forever remember.

Have tons of photos but will only post a few below so you won’t get too bored with my amateur photography.

Above images were taken at my brothers house in northern Alabama. Last photo is rare indeed, doesn’t happen very often but left to right is me, my brother David, and my sister Karen.

Last three photo’s are some taken near my friend Bud’s house in southern Tennessee as we were just riding around and reminiscing. Always enjoyable to see if you can find roads in those hills that you’ve never been on before. Some really beautiful country. Bike roads galore! 🙂

That was a very enjoyable vacation, one to remember. Realizing this post did not include the motorcycle but I have plans for more rides in the near future to visit some interesting places to talk about. Until then……
